OT Hummer H2 2007 vs 2008
My wife wants a Hummer H2, and prefers the 2007 dash. However the 2008 has a better motor and transmission (70 more HP and a 6spd).
Any Hummer owners willing to give input on your Hummer?

Interesting change from 996 cab. I know we have Q7, X5 and Cayenne owners here. There may be great info on Hummers on the Corvette, Harley, UFC or Ed Hardy boards. Just sayin'...
Can't you talk her into a car guy ride, like an A6 or 5-series wagon?

The cab was for her to enjoy on the weekends.
The Hummer would be for her everyday kid hauling. She drives an EB Expedition now and only like large SUV's. I also like the Hummer, so a win win.
As for no longer making the Hummer... GM still owns the rights. Plus, as we all know... the hummer for the most part is a bunch of GM HD trucks and a Tahoe.

She needs 3 rows. I have 3 kids and if they bring a friend, we need the extra row.
How did this turn in to plan "B" option?
She is open to an Escalade and a Hummer.

Damn...Get the lady what she wants...She's the one behind the wheels hauling the kids...The OP asked for info from Hummer owners...All he's gotten so far is alternatives from non-Hummer owners....This thread is heading in exactly the same direction as the YouTube video posted here last week...I'm surprised someone hasn't mentioned a Lotus Elise.

I have owned H1,H2 & H3's.
I used to develope mountain side home sites and it was the perfect truck. The H2 SUT was my daily driver and the 4S was weekends.
I towed big trailers, boats, quads.. all kinds of fun things into deep country an Escalade would not be able to.
The H2 is not even the same type of vehicle as the Escalade.
I do not like the look of the H2 wagon as much as the H1.
H2 SUT was one of the best vehicles I have owned, though the depriciation was 75% when I sold it with 31,000 miles use.
I special ordered chrome delete and put off road tires on it etc..
Here I am teaching my 4 year old Nephew how to drive his dream truck. (he loves hummers)

H1's drive like dump trucks with bad A/C. The brakes are inboard right off the differentials and are very expensive for pad changes every 10,000. They started to cryno freeze the rotors to get more life from them but they still wore out early. I would never put my girl in a H1.
H2's are very under rated and have a bad rep from haters that never owned one. I will own another, they are the best of the 3 in my opinion (based on all around use).
MPG was about 11.5 miles, which is on par with most trucks and some sports cars.

Go for the 08. We had a 04 and the trans failed at 42K miles, just out of warranty. If I remember correctly is was less than 2K for a new trans but still a PITA! Overall it was an interesting experience, we went from a Yukon to the H2 to an XC90. The inside space of the XC90 is just so much more efficient than anything GM ever dreamed of and the Yamaha V8 screams along at 20+ MPG on the highway. Obviously offroad and towing the H2 was great but the squeaks, rattles and wind noise ultimately sent it down the river.
