+1. Courtesy is totally dead. People's actions seem guided by the letter of the law and nothing more. Today's American: "Courtesy and morals? That takes extra work, right? Sorry, bro. No thanks."

In business, it's called Professionalism and Ethics. Pretty much the same stuff, although not in the same crisis state (yet) as the personal world is.

My wife and I made an appointment to go see (buy) a nice Pottery Bard desk. Borrowed a truck, got a sitter and drove an hour across town. Turns out bitch was having a yard sale and sold it an hour before we got there. All we got was a shrug, smile and "Sorry. Do you want to still see it?" Me, "Uh, no!" My wife "A call would have been nice."
