Default Auto Transport/Shipping...Ideas?

Having a hard time getting shipping confirmed for my new to me 993 from Pomona California to RPM in Houston. I have used Intercity before with great results, but for some reason I am having trouble getting them booked, return my calls, etc. So want to also look at other options. Anyone had good recent success with Passport or Horsless Carriage, etc.? What about a smaller provider who will maybe be a bit more nimble to my phone calls, booking, etc. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Intercity is a big YES, Plycon is a big YES, and Horseless Carriage is a big YES. All used within the past 3 years so service hopefully is the same. 6 figure cars were aboard all the enclosed carriers that shipped for and to my collector car neighbor. Why has he used so many? Schedule mainly. Pricing is pretty close.

Horseless Carriage have a great reputation. ANother option is to try Uship.com. I chose this method to ship an Audi A3 from CA to TX and got my car shipped within 2 days. There's a rating system for the carriers who bid for your contract so you have an idea of other peoples experiences.
First option though would be one of the high end transporters such as IC, Horesless etc.

I would personally recommend these guys. Had an awesome experience with them shipping a car from the West Coast to the East Coast.

+1 on Demoise.

JT, don't be lazy, do a search. This question is asked and answered weekly.

You may want to call Jonathan at RUF, he has tons of transport hook-ups as that was/is his business. Let me know if I can help you with that connection.

I've used Specialty Carriers through Ruf several times and have been very pleased. Smaller, independent operation.

Sounds like good experiences with a wide variety of shippers. I'll throw FedEx Auto Shipping into the mix. I shipped my '87 Carrera from Oregon to California earlier this year and was very impressed with FedEx's service. I tried to get InterCity at the time but they were too busy to take the job in the timeframe I was interested in.

+1 for Passport/Fedex. I have used them many times from before Fedex bought them up to a few months ago when they moved my C2S, CTT, and wife's MB. If you want to pay a little more (like $500) you can get the pick-up window narrowed dramatically.

Has anyone used an 8'x20' container to ship a vehicle over the ocean? To Hawaii for example. What method would you use to tie it down and protect it so it doesn't shift during transport and damage the car?
