Default My Official Introduction

Well, I figured after owning my first Porsche for a year now, and joining rennlist soon after - it was time for me to properly introduce myself. I work at a place where, when you’re new, you shut your yap, listen and learn.

When I bought my 95, I didn’t really know about rennlist. One of the guys at work told me about it, I became a member, and since then I’ve been hooked. I never realized how much I was going to want to do to my car until I saw all of the mods being done by members. Rennlist is a great resource for someone like me who is going to do most of the work himself.

I found the car on Ebay, but after speaking with the owner, the auction ended without the reserve being met, so we agreed on a price. The car had 100k miles when I bought it, but it had a lot of maintenance done to it, and it drove really nicely on the 15hr drive home. I made a few mistakes when I bought the car that if I were to do it over again, would have probably made me walk away - but in the end I got lucky and none of my mistakes came back to bite me.

I decided to wait, and get used to the car in its original state, so that with each mod that I did I would appreciate the improvement. Well, I say that, but the first thing I did before I had even picked up the car was to purchase a set of 18” 996 style turbo twists (the 17’s had to go). And I should mention that the p.o. had installed a set of supercups, and I peeled off the black stone guards that the p.o. before the p.o. put on - I was not a fan.

The slippery slope has now begun after a year of peaking over the edge. I purchased a set of brand new HD’s off of a fellow rennlister (first step in losing the suv ride height). While I was at his house to pick them up (he lived 2 hrs away) he showed me the Rennsport shifter and aluminum e-brake handle he had in a drawer ( he had sold his 993) but he didn’t want to sell them yet, after a little convincing he sold me those too. I ended up buying everything he had - which included a set of MY02 rims with brand new tires and a bunch of other cool things at a very reasonable price - thanks Peter!

Once the sliding had begun - I did the next step - a purchase from the friendly guys at FD Motorsports. Last Friday I received the first of many shipments from them - row MO30 springs, MO30 sways, SSK with golden rod, Chris Walrod bushings and a bunch of other stuff. The next shipment will hopefully be going out in the next day or two - Fister StageIII’s in black with black tips.

My plan is to powder coat the MY02 rims in black, so that with the new black exhaust tips the exterior of the car will be entirely black and red - I also purchased a black hood badge from Mark that looks really cool. I plan to start the suspension work in the next couple of weeks, as time permits.

I thought I would show a few pics, starting with what it looked like when I bought it, and what it looks like now and then I’ll be able to update as I make the changes. Thanks for the help you as a forum have provided me and thanks for the future help and advice that I know you’ll be there with!

Thanks

when I bought it...

That is a really nice example of a car with 100k on it. Your slippery slope is apparently well greased!

Enjoy doing the mod's and keep us updated with pic's.
