Steering Rack Rebuild

You could pull the rack, start dismantling it to see the difficulty involved. If it looks straightforward, go for it. Otherwise, if it looks too difficult, put it back together (to the best of your ability) and swap it as a core for a rebuilt one.

i decided to buy a rebuilt unit off of the internet. I removed the tie-rods from the steering rack and let them hang to the side while I replaced everything. Worked out perfect and I did not need an alignment. All bolts were replaced as well as the boots. Now that I have done it myself, if I should ever have to do it again it will be MUCH faster.
