Default "trunk open" sensor light

This light stays on for 10 or 15 seconds after I've had it open and then start the car. Is the sensor going bad, or does this mean that it is still open but that the light turns off anyway after 10 or 15 seconds?
The feel of the trunk and deck lid closure mechanisms is not as positive as it is in most cars, so I'm wondering if I'm getting them closed properly.

I'm not familiar with that light. What is its position?

let's see, I want to say in the superior portion of the Speedometer. It's a profile of the car with an arrow that points to the lid that supposedly isn't shut.

Are you referring to the spoiler sensor (I assumed that's what it was, but haven't looked closely) at the 1 o'clock position. Mine stays on for a few secs until I start moving.

That light is the rear spoiler warning light. According to the owner's manual, it should light up when the engine is started and stay lit until the car reaches a speed of 4 MPH at which point it goes out (That is what mine does). Should your spoiler fail to deploy properly, this is the light that would tell you of that occurance.
