Default Funky oil temp gauge

Posted a while back, got surprised at the track with an intermittent oil temp reading that would "peg" to HOT, then fall back into range. Since then, behaviour has repeated numerous times on the street - a lot less stressful the second time... (!)

Cleaned contacts on both the temp sender and behind the gauge with no improvement. If anything, it's getting worse. A knucle rap on the tach glass unsticks the needle, but not for long.

I assume this must be a gauge fault. Any thoughts?

Any way to test the gauge?

Assuming I do have to send it out for service, NH or PA speedo? Recommendations?

Thanks for the input.

Best,

Matt
