Default '96 Needs New Cabrio Top

I am trying to help a friend who needs to replace his black top on a 1996 993 Cab. in the Chicago area.

1) What's a good shop in Chicago area for the work?
2) Manufacturer for a quality top?
3) Estimated total costs?

Thanks!

Sorry I don't know Chicago, but I recently installed a Gahh top for $2,300.

I have two 993 cabs and replaced both tops at different times and bought the tops
on E Bay from different sellers and first one I paid $349 and was OEM material with a perfect fit . Second one I paid $450 and again OEM fabric but a slight tweeking needed to make it fit properly . Both cars look good .
The important thing is to find a good installer , which I believe I found , both time they charged $600 .

Cheers Guy

I recently went through this in the western suburbs. I bought from an e-bay distributor for $400, shipped. The installer I used was Riggs brothers in Naperville. They were stand-offish about the installation because they didn't know the manufacturer, but I found them to be straightforward and they provided good workmanship. Labor for the install came in at the book rate of $1000.

Great advice guys! Keep it coming.

Brian (BSL) was the eBay dist. selling you a GAHH product?

I am familiar with Riggs. Many years ago I worked with one of the daughters at Denny's in Oak Brook Terrace. They installed a moonroof in my 1979 Fiat 128.

No, the top I purchased was by German Tops, not GAHH.
