Default Battery hold down broke

Need a little advice on this one:

I was replacing my battery and as I tried to loosen the hold down for the battery I heard a snap (Yes I was loosening and not tightening). It seems as though the nut that under the trunk floor came loose from it's weld. Now the bolt only spins and will not loosen. Can this nut be accessed from anywhere? What should I do?

Thanks in advance

I would do my own investigating but I am off to celebrate my wife's birthday. This SNAFU totally bummed me out.

Had the same thing happen to my car. Easy fix was to have a guy with good welding skills re-weld the nut. The hole while small is large enough to lift the nut up and weld it to the sheet metal. It's just a couple of small tack welds but it has worked for the last 10 years.

jimb206-If I understand correctly, I should leave the bolt attached to the nut so that it can held into place so that it can be tack welded?

Of the 7 used 911's I've owned over the years, I've not had this happen. But one of my cars had a missing battery hold down bracket. So what I did was "jam" the battery in place using wood shims. (wood as they are a non-conductor). With the battery so packed down in a small space - even if the battery was not tied down - other than the potential for a terminal to somehow come in contact with the metal inner fender, most likely it would be fine.
