Quick Radio Connector Question
I would like to tie in to the switched 12V and ground from the radio to charge an ipod on my '97 with a CDR-210.
Is it possible to remove these wires from the plastic connector that plugs into the radio?? I would like to pull them from the connector and make a good soldered tap, and then reinsert them to the connector.
After staring at it and probing with a small screwdriver, I can't discern any way to remove the wires.
Any insight is appreciated.

Yes. There is a small barb on the metal connector at the end of the wire that catches onto the hole in the plastic plug. If you look closely you can see which side of the connector the barb is on. Look at the business side of the plug to see it but you need to remove it from the wire side of the plug. Use a small jeweler's screwdriver inserted parallel to the wire and depress the barb while you gently pull and wiggle out the wire. It's fiddley but it will come out. When attaching the second wire be sure you keep the connection tight and small as you'll need to fit the whole thing back into the same slot on the plug.
Got it.
Thanks for the info. I managed to use an unwound paperclip to depress the barb.
Soldered in a tap, and off and running.
Thanks again, I really like to keep all of my modifications reversible, so I really didn't want to slice into the harness.
