Default Advice on buying used wheels

I'm considering used 18" solid twists that I will see in person. Any advice how to make sure they are not bent.

Also, can anyone offer any real negatives for a 7.5 vs an 8" front rim?

Thanks,

I can't tell you how to tell if they are bent other than looking, but if they are scratched, I can make them perfect for you, or show you how. It's a pretty easy (but time consuming) DIY. South Tampa local...

I believe a 7.5" wheel was a Boxster version.

Have a tire shop spin them on the balance machine or put them on your front hub and spin them yourself. If you are ****, bring along a dial indicator.

Other than putting on at least a spin balancer, not much. I was surprised to find the best looking of my stock C4S wheels was the one that was slightly bent. Caught it by chance when I had the wheels off and decided to throw them on the balancer for the hell of it, so it can be pretty subtle.

I don't have any problem with the 7.5" width. A 225/40-18 still fits that size wheel without issue. It might even be lighter. At the 99.5% limit the extra 1/2" width of an 8" wheel would be "better", but makes no significant difference to a daily driver. If you could feel the difference, you should be looking for hollow spokes.
