Sorry, that sucks. I converted mine a couple of weeks ago & am much happier & worry MUCH LESS!!! It is actually faster & now the top doesn't rub on the sides by the window where the holes typically develop
Has anyone come up with a solution to the warning lights - I think at night they'd become an annoyance. I don't really want to go in and remove the bulb(s), but I am thinking about putting a piece of tape or something over the two warning lights that I'm going to have to live with.

First, you can get rid of 1 warning light by just hitting the "!" reset button, though you will have to do it each time you start the car.
As for the 2nd, the only way I know is to remove the bulb, the gauge comes out fairly easily, it's really not a difficult task. Maybe someone else knows a better way though.
Personally, when I had the cab the steering wheel was right in the way of that bulb so it didn't bother me.

For me the top warning light hasn't been an annoyance--you quickly get used to it and it isn't much of a bother. I would rather have it on than not have a bulb in to show when the top isn't latched properly. For the ! warning, as Bill mentioned, that just clears with the resent button.
I converted my old cab to manual when it got hung up mid-drop once. A few months later, I fixed it (transmissions were loose on the sides causing it to bind) and immediately went back to manual again. I converted it back to auto when I sold it, but I also recommend going manual.
You have to put the boot on anyway and when lowering, it's advised to help it fold/watch it to make sure the alignment pins don't pinch a hole in the top (ask me how i know).
i loosened my bolts with the top up. this was suggested to me from another r-lister. this will also allow me to tighten with top up in position if ever decide to sale her...but doubt it
