SOLVED-#1 fuse keeps blowing
Took a drive today with a/c on. Heard a noise that sounded like a card in spokes on a bicycle and then ccu fan turned off (and noise stopped). Checked #1 fuse and it was blown. Put in a new fuse, turned on a/c (no repeat of the noise I described) but a/c ran for 5-10 seconds and everything shut down again. Another blown fuse.
Since I replaced the cabin filters yesterday, I checked around to make sure I had not crimped any wires, etc. No indication of anything wrong.
Put in a second fuse and this time noticed (probably happened with the first fuse replacement also) that when I turned the key to begin to start the car, the engine fan comes on (the fan that comes on intermittently to cool the engine). This is before starting. I started the car but could not tell if that fan continued to run (can't hear anything over the sound of the engine/exhaust).
Turned on the a/c and fuse blew within 5 seconds or so again. CCU controls do not work at all after the fuse blows. No blower fan for a/c, heat, etc. Turn the key with the #1 fuse blown and engine fan does not come on when turning the key to start the car.
I checked my auxillary switch to turn on the high speed fan at the oil cooler and there were no exposed wires. Nothing wrong there. I can operate the high speed oil cooler fan before the fuse blows but not after.
UPDATE:
Embarrassing to admit but I did not install the driver's side cabin filter correctly. Second time I've done the job so I thought I was an expert. NOT. The filter was not seated properly in the channel and the bottom of the filter was hitting the fan. Caused the fuse to blow rather than do more damage because of an idiotic mistake.
The engine fan still came on after properly seating the filter. Disconnected battery and all is working properly.

Sounds like a grounding issue.Going through some stuff myself lately. The ccu and radio are held in metal chassis that can have sharp edges. I found radio wires breached (sheathing cut showing exposed wire), i can only assume, by the wires moving around while laying on the chassis over all these years. You may want to pull your CCU and check. I would go over every wire again that you came in contact with when changing the filters, even just a nick might be enough for something to go wrong.
