Ended up finding it once I removed the seat. It is definitely taking quite a few attempts to get the switch to click back together in the housing. All 4 tabs need to get all the way in. Got it seemingly good, but 1 of the 4 directions stopped working. So clearly it was not precisely enough connected together. Need to take apart once more and hoping to get it this time...
