I clicked on this thinking it was a 993 GT2...

The car for sale is certainly sweet, but for me, the ultimate Porsche graces the cover of Streather's 993 book.

Cool car, love the novelty of the power, but I'd never even begin to scratch the surface of available performance. I don't know if I'd enjoy knowing that the sheer power left so much higher limits on the table.

Isn't that a bit like saying you wouldn't go on a date with a **** star because she has so much performance you'd leave on the table? You'd still have the ride of your life...

oops, any time I think of GT2, the 996 comes to mind. Keep forgettting there's a 993 GT2. Have you guys ever driven behind a 6 GT2 and listen to the engine? It's an unbelieveable sound..

I think that's a different kind of sensation/pleasure.

Been there .... Done that.... It's crazy power but not fun to drive on the street. He forgot to mention that the car will eat it's plugs every 6000 miles like mine did.

I'm coming back to a 993 NA and narrow body.

The 993 sounds and feels like the real deal.

One hell of a good deal though!

Didn't the 996 turbos use a motor based on something other than the M96? I think the turbos don't go poof like the Carrera engines do.

Always wanted one of these. RPM has a super nice "Adriatic Blue"/ex-Seinfeld car for sale @ $120K too. But in all honesty, it may be a coffin on wheels with all that power.

993RS for me please.

yup. The 996 GT2 and turbo (and the 993TT/997.1TT) all have the metzer M64 motor.

However, the rods (rod bolts especially) and crank become questionable above about 500bhp. With 700bhp and who knows how much torque+ fairly high revs, I'd be a little cautious.

That said, the Evo kit might include new motor internals, I'm not sure.

A bit of an albatross. It makes zero sense to buy a GT2 for street use and it seems few guys are comfortable tracking these things, especially one with 700HP. You can also buy a $200k 08 for $130k now. That said, it's amazing how much performance $65k can buy.
