There is nothing in the owner's manual that references the quantative difference between any two points on the oil level gauge. Mine has grown so inconsistent that I don't even look at it.
The manual does state that the difference between the bottom and the top of the twist on the oil dipstick is 1.6 quarts.
The oil indicator (at least mine) indicates the following:
About 2/3 up the spril==about 1/2 way on the gauge.
About the middle of the spirl wont register on guage
Give or take a little on the above.
I like to keep my oil level about where it registers about 1/2 way on the internal oil gauge after warming up and being idle on flat ground. For me, thats a good indicator and consistant over the past 7 years. However, I always check the dip stick regardless what the gauge states.
