I deleted my vent pipe recently. Capped off the nipple on the side of the reservoir, and replaced the the non-vented reservoir cap with the updated vented one. EZPZ

Where does the hard line of the vent pipe actually go? Is it inside the fender liner of the drivers front wheel well pointing to the floor like a rain gutter drain tube?

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that I am squeezing the tube hard enough with my vice grips. Don't see any brake fluid spilling on the ground and I am bleeding the brakes just fine.

After spilling several liters of RBF on my garage floor, I put a big sign on my Motiv brake bleeder reminding me to cap off the brake fluid vent pipe. I finally got around to replacing all that crap with the replacement cap that vents into the frunk, per the TSB Bulletin . I think I’d prefer spilling brake fluid into the street, but honestly it’s never had to vent in any of my cars and the new cap is simpler, and lighter.

So it was a recall on the early 95 models? Mine was never done.

Yes, it’s a quick and easy fix. If you have a yellow ring around the cap, you should replace it with the new one with black ring. Then you can eliminate the overflow pipe and cap it off. Easy.

Or get the newer style reservoir without the vent hole that you need to cap? Also, does the vent pipe just pull up and out of the wheel well or is it more involved to properly get the overflow pipe out of the frunk?

No there is no new style reservoir (edit: there probably is a new reservoir without the hole, but no need to remove your existing one). As noted in the TSB, it’s a new cap that replaces the existing cap in the existing reservoir. You remove the vent pipe and cover that small hole with a rubber plug. Most just remove the two pieces of the vent pipe in the frunk (see photo below, two arrows) , but it extends into the driver side wheel well if you’re feeling ambitious. I seem to recall a replacement rubber plug that’s available to fill the void where the pipe once passed.

You can simply remove these two pieces and leave the rest of the pipe for later, if you’re weight conscious
