Apparently Toyota has an even bigger problem than brake failure...

This is one of my fav current marketing series.

McDs took a stab at this style for their "Mc Cafe" line, but Toyota has a far superior SoCal under tone, that pulls out a giggle.

With DVRs, you have a "choice" to watch commercials. "Props" to Toyota as my 20-something girlfriends always make me watch Toyata's SE spots (not that I mind)!

2 cents,
P Fan

I always thought that Toyota has always had the worst commercial in the industry. And I've owned 5 Toyotas over the year.

I used to work at Saatchi & Saatchi, the agency that did these. Humor is really tough to pull off in this business. For years, the attempts at humor that TMS actually approved usually fell flat, leaving the viewer with a smirk rather than a belly laugh.

TMS and S&S put a lot of resources for any big launch of a volume product like Sienna. Conceptually, the surprise of "rap parody" is thoroughly played-out, so all that's left is tactical execution. From that standpoint, they did a good job here.

Awesome..ballsy move by Toyota...and it paid off..depending on the audience's age, they get it or not...the audience here are the '80s kids who grew up with Run DMC etc and now in their 30s and have their own kids.

Exactly. Seemed more SNL than hood to me, but still well worth the watch.
