Default RS heater bypass question

I understand the 964 version of the fan shroud is required for proper fitment. Silly question (or is it?), but does the 964 fan shroud fit a Varioram 993 - or just 95's?

Thanks~!

The 964 part is what I use on mine. it is also the stock one for all M64/5,6, 7 & 8(non vram 993) as well as M64/20(RS)

Thanks Bill - just so I don't get further confused, of the cars mentioned above, the M64/20 is Varioram, in which case the 964 shroud will fit my 1997, right?

Thanks

yes, m64/20 is the RS engine and yes the 964 part is the one you want. My vram engine is also a '97 though it is RoW but that doesn't make any difference wrt the shrouds and ducting

New one is the 964 part, old cracked one is the 993 part, which I had on my 95 Non Vram, as well as the Vram engines.

What's the best option with all the electronics that is disconnected once the RS bypass is installed?

Great question Flying Low. I was going to ask that one after I got a tube and shroud that actually fit in my car. The Fabspeed piece has a connector for the tube that comes off of the distributor, but there are two other "items" that connect to the stock fan motor/tube. I wasn't sure what to do with them.

I can get them out of the way... I just didn't know what they do and what I'm giving up by not having them connected. I assume there must not be any risk associated with them not being connected.

When I had this tube (FYI, it was the old c/f fabspeed type and while a major PITA, I managed to install it), I cut a rectangular opening for the temp sensor?
The one with little "spring" and just tied the rest of the stuff on the side of the engine compartment. Now that I don't have the tube, I tied them all there on the side.

Good idea, with the rectangle slot for the sensor. I will do the same.
What tool did you use to cut the CF ?

Just a little dremel with a cutting disc.

It worked great, make it correct size and that piece just snaps into it's place as it does in it's original position.

You need to remove the heater blower motor relay in the fuse box next to the blower (that you remove) to disable the sensors. Then just tie wrap the sensors out of the way.

I was not aware that the relay needs to be removed.

1. Any pics of which one it is?
2. Does removal affect anything besides the removed blower?
3. What's the impact of leaving the relay in place?

Sorry for the 1000 questions...

Best,

Matt
