Track fun @MMC
Sat. was opening day for members @ Monticello Motor Club. www.monticellomotorclub.com
I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest of my good friend in New Paltz (avid P-car/race car collector). The facility is first rate with unlimited track time & instruction. My friend brought along a vintage race prepared 914/6. I tried to convince him to drive the 964 carrera cup car (last 2 pics)- but no dice since it was his 1st outing of the year.
Upon arrival & check in I was interviewed by the MMC staff to ensure safety & track experience. Fortunetly my 5 years of PCA drivers ed was enough for them. My instructor was great (without him i would definetly have gone off).
The track is almost 4 miles long with several high speed straights 140+ at times.
My instructor had a mildly tweeked 05 Carrera S with carbon brakes. Those brakes defy logic in thier stopping power. Coupled with PSAM his car was rock steady & quick.
The 993 held its own against all the Mazda's & Lotus cars. I felt out of place since all cars were dedicated track cars running slicks etc. I slid sideways about as much as I went straight !. Being on the track with some of the cars picuterd below was a littly scary as the come up behind you at twice the speed.
Anyway had fun. Those guys know how to live. Enjoy the pics.

Gappy,
your car would be great at the long course. It's the most fun you can have, Very safe too.
Streat tires are no good @ the track for hard driving. I slid my car all over the place on the HTRZ III's

Race Car
Cool Pics. Thanks for sharing. I like the split grill and tinted back window on your cab. Do you have a roll bar? Is not apparent from the pictures and I wonder if they let you on the track without one.
