After the ridiculous quote I got for a cut key from Beverly Hills Porsche, I bought a new blank from Sunset. Anybody have an idea for a local locksmith to copy my present key?

I think there are lots of locksmiths out there who can cut these fancy newer keys. I just had one cut for my Lexus RX, which has keys that are designed to break--the metal part of the key extends a very small way into the thin plastic head, so any over-enthusiastic or heavy-handed key turner will break the key. My local shop can cut the key blades, but they can't code the key software. If you need that done, you are probably stuck with the dealer.
Lexus robbed me of almost $300 when I lost a key, an outrageous price for a new key and one hour shop labor "that's our minimum" to code it.
For the cracked key heads (total is now at two), I found an ebay seller that had the empty key shells with a blank key blade for $9.25 including shipping. I bought one expecting a low-quality knock-off, and was surprised when I got one made by Denso, the OEM manufacturer, complete with Lexus logo. I got the new key cut for $20, transferred the electronics module from the broken key to the new key, and all is good.
