I'm told that Monroes only last 8 years tops. Nevertheless, there are about 3 guys here who deliberately choose to run Monroes. I expect that they plan to enter their cars in a concours some day. The other 95% run Bilstein, either HD, PSS9 or PSS10 coil over system.

What's your intended application?

I have the ROW MO30 (sport) set up and love it. Plenty comfy on the street.

That's the RoW M033, aka comfort suspension. There are several here running that set up instead of RoW M030.

both of the above are lower than US stock or US M030

as far as the RoW suspensions go M030 wrt the M033 has the same ride height but is softer, both are lower than stock RoW

Stock has a variety of feels depending on if stock is M030 or M033, RoW or USA.

The M030/Bilstein HD combo seems to be a good set up for most of us street drivers, with enough for agressive driving. For those that do both track and street, the PSS10 offers adjustability and enough stiffness to do reasonably well for the track. For hard core track you may want to go even more extreme. {KDW, Moton etc...}

my car is strictly street, and I have the M030/HD set up. It is fine for my needs, and can be set up to RS height, or even lower, which I wouldn't recommend.

What do you plan to use the car for?

PSS10 given its adjustability gives you flexibility to use the car for the track, even if you currently don't, who knows, in the future, you may get bitten by the track bug, you certianly wouldn't be the first that happened to.

I'm one of those lunatics who installed M033 and Monroes. This package lowers the ride hit from OEM US by about 3/4 of an inch. It is also a slightly stiffer ride. However, If you want to lower your car, M033 and Monroes stay the closest to the original ride comfort. Sticking with Cup II's also adds to ride comfort.

thanks! My car gets a little out of sorts over bumps in the road, other than that I'm happy with the ride. I'm thinking of going the stock porsche monroe ROW, as I fear a stiff ride that scrapes on my driveway.

Had the Euro M033 & Monroe's installed back in 2001 or 40k miles ago all the while running the stock C2S coupe's Cup II 17" wheels. Works great... I'd do it all over again.
The M033 ride height is much lower than USA stock however not slammed.

is it normal for your suspension to get squirrely at high speeds if the shocks are worn out? Or do I have another issue? My car is a 96' with 29k miles.

I don't think so, I would look more towards alignment or control arm bushings.

True, however, ride comfort is still personal preference, and while ride quality will suffer with 18s, I personally don't feel that my 993 is harsh with M030/HDs and MY02s.

HAving said that, my former 911SC WAS definitely harsh, much more so than my 993, so relatively speaking, the 993 is quite comfy.
YMMV

that is what I thought but the service advisor without looking at it said .... blah blah .. you need ROW suspension.

Has anybody had bad control arm bushings? effects on the car?

Mine rides fine until i hit any bump during a turn ... then it gets all loose

There are a lot of rubber bushes in the 993 suspension and yes they do go bad w/ time. It's difficult to determine what is going on w/ your car, it could be shocks, bushes or even alignment or a combination of all 3. You need to have all 3 checked by someone that is knowledgeable about these cars

RoW M030 or M033 is going to be 30mm lower all around than any stock US suspension, but it's not so low as to get you into trouble w/ most driveway transitions

I purchased the M033 kit from Sunset last year knowing the bad rap that the Monroes were getting here. I knew I would not be tracking the car and wanted to retain the comfort along with the lower stance and with the mileage that I drive it would be many years before I needed to replace the shocks. There is also a big cost difference between the Pss10's and the M033 packages.
