Default RS and NB rear fender support brackets???

Read a little blurb in the back of this month's Panorama...said that RS cars had a longer rear fender support bracket which would fit all NB cars, insinuating one could get a slightly fatter rear fender by installing this bracket?

So A) not sure I interpreted that right; B) not sure what would be involved in replacing said bracket, and C) not sure if there would be any downside. BUT getting a slightly fatter butt without building a WB cab is an interesting prospect.

Thoughts?

I know the point where the bracket fits could help those with rubbing issues, My rubbing (when the car is very low) occurs right where the bumper joins the fender.

Can't add a response to your pondering's but am interested in the result.....

i've seen a few people fabricate an extension between the brackets and the B/C.
They just pull the existing B/C out to match the newly extended mounting holes.
You can "stretch" the rear of the B/C at least 1 1/2 inches this way.

have fun

It's true, the RS fender support bracket (above the muffler can) is wider. To install, the fender simply needs some gently persuasion outwards...

The RS bracket is wider but in my experience that won't solve the wide tire dilemma.

I always see them hit up on the arched lips.

That answers part of it then (btw...what is B/C?)...it seems it just widens down by the mufflers, not up by the top. Makes sense, but I was hoping for some magic beans...

pretty sure B/C - bumper cover

yes, it just widens the area behind the wheel, probably keeps stuff from being thrown up off the tires onto the paint

from what I've seen 285/30 on 10ET65 is not going to be an issue even on a very low track car, especially one that is sets up w/ a bit more camber than the usual street car.

When I buy a new set of rear wheels it will probably be 10.5 ET67-69, the 285/30 is is about ideal for a tire size

There you go, with those numbers Bill provided, you can order them.
Below is a picture showing them in a car (red arrows on the right).

Correct, only the front bracket changes. BTW, I tried to compare the RS & Stock rear fenders (in photos) but hard to see the difference.

Flying Finn,
I love that exhuast, I always wondered why no one routed it that way (without the extra loop, like the supercups have.) Very clean looking.
Thanks for the posts. I read the same article this evening and then stumbled upon this thread googling for answers.

I removed the rear bracket on each side inside the rear bumper (to save weight) and it has had no adverse result on the rear bumper cover.

My rear brackets are gone as well. With the new fenders, the front ones are easily bent out a little.

You can definitely push out the rear end and just shim the existing bracket on the tub side. I would not want this pushed out without the front flared a little more also. If you install GT2 flares, it makes a big difference on clearance (315 fits well in the rear). Then you need to fab a need fender liner for at least the forward section.
