I think it's all about subtlety.

I know some like it, but I don not like carbon fiber slathered all over the interior, even if it is a factory part. It is not for weight reduction, just bling. In most cases I think it looks pretty tacky. Give me all black leather, please.

Other tasteful upgrades:
- Proper suspension (inclues shocks, coilovers, bushings, uprights, sways, etc)
- Exhaust mods (RSR, FDM, DACH)
- Wheels (I like MY02 and Speedline - there are some aftermarket options that work great as well)
- RS interior bits
- Better seats (this one is tricky, hard to find the perfect seat)

A lot of these depend on the intended purpose of the car.

There are two things that the factory really messed up that is almost a mandatory mod for me:

1. Fix the US right hight (PSSxy, Bistein HD, KW ...)
2. Get the 3-spoke steering wheel

All the other things are depending on taste, usage (track vs. drive to starbucks), improved performance and/or money available.

High on my list:
1. HID headlights ("best bang for the buck mod") and stock lock
2. CDR 220
3. Aluminum pedals
4. ...

If you have ever driven a car with shorter gear ratio, RS clutch and fly wheel, you might have found a mod that is limitted by budget ...
