Nice! I am feeling the need to paint my tired worn calipers a bright red! probably a DIY for the spring.

 

That looks good...I am not sure how much your guy charges in Montreal to do this...but you can seriously do this at home for a small cost and a little time.

I refinished my TT brakes for about $30 for the pair..that was 2+ years ago and they look still look perfect today. you DO NOT have to sand blast the callipers either..infact I advise against it.

I've had best results by stripping them down to bare aluminum -- any chips in the original finish will show up in the powdercoat.

For the calipers shown above, I would make sure the brake pads slide easily into the caliper. Powdercoating or even painting for that matter builds up on those abutment plates. This is the reason I always remove them before refinishing.

FWIW - the 'cross-shaped' spring clip that holds the pads in place comes out very easy...

If I remember correctly the factory paints the clips as well..

 

Negative..... The paint would come off during the first pad change.

Otherwise a great job but I wouldn't paint those clips.

 

I used to refinish these in batches



but perhaps a little too picky -- or maybe OCD -- I disassembled them, zinc plated the steel bits then refinished the caliper body, reassembled.
