Default Road Trip!

5 1/2 years I've owned the C4S, and I've never taken it outside of Northern California. So off Thursday early AM to Phoenix for a week.

(Anyone guess, given where we're going, what the last service item I checked was?)

What Yakima parts are you using for the rack. Are they Q Towers.

I like working, as best as can be expected, a/c. Self-taught in '86 when I opened the shop down there and the 911 customers started rolling in that spring with "what the hell can you do to make the a/c work!" Became a profitable facet of Porsche repair that the other shops didn't seem to want to tackle.

And as far as Sunday, you could imagine my wife's reaction if I told her we were going to hang out fiddling with cars........... It'll be baseball, golf, bike riding, dining, and catching up with some old friends. Now if there's a drive somewhere, I was thinking Yarnell Hill for old time's sake, that would work.

Just the old clamp-on-the-gutters unit I've had for about 15 years now. Not only are the bikes riding up there, but I've got the golf clubs packed and ready to be tied down in the middle. I'll be the most un-aerodynamic 993 ever to roll down the highway.

Good deal. Drive safe and enjoy the trip. And don't forget the Valentine One.

SURE WOULD! Then we can all get together for lunch in Prescott!

Yarnell Hill through Peeple's Valley then on to Skull Valley, and if the old gas station on the corner is open you can stop and take pictures in front with all the Rusty 356's that are being preserved in their rusty state in the garage by "Rusty Bottoms" in the background. The first time we drove by the garage and the doors were open and we saw all the 356's our jaws dropped. We couldn't believe it. Anyway.... then you can drive on to Prescott and saying hi to me.......

A real '73 RS was "lost" on Yarnell Hill not too long before I moved there in '83. The engine lived on in a neat 914-6 the guy also had. Just imagine the days when ~210HP was about as good as it got.

I'm trying to coordinate about 5 "activities" right now, so we'll see how it plays out.

I'll keep it going then, like the gnome in the Travelocity ads snapping photos of being here and there.

First significant stop Thursday is hopefully the new Chuckwalla Valley raceway in Desert Center.

Made it to Phoenix (Tempe). Stopped along the way at the new (opening next weekend) Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center. In THE middle of nowhere. Period. 2.7 miles of a pretty good layout, comprised of medium and high speed stuff. And the homage to Riverside's Turn 9................ (Too bad there's no mile long straight leading into it.)
