Need bumperette assistance
I was removing my bumperettes off of my 95 CS to install white lenses and the bolts to secure the bumperettes broke off.
The top one was already broken (i guess the previous owner) and I just snapped the other on. How can I get to these?
The old ones were so rusty that I can not get a grip on them to turn them back
out. I was trying to install the new lenses that are seen in the second picture.

OK,
Thanks for that Info. But my bigger problem is the bolts that are broken off.
I will be happy to even put the old lenses back on with the bumperettes

Just need to find the correct size screws, nuts and washers to replace the rusted broken ones. Should be able to find them at a hardware store. Or, you could purchase the OEM fasteners

The broken bits are actually studs that are pressed into the back side of the metal bracket you can see: The studs were seized to the nuts that you were trying to remove. The correct way, IIRC, to get the brackets out is to drop the front bumper cover .... a real PITA.
You may be able to drill out the studs, and tap the holes one size larger ( M4 studs I think, so tap to M5) with the brackets in place: I doubt that the stud ends can be hammered out with the bracket in place without $$$ collateral damage, as they simply float around in there - so there is nothing solid to hit on.
I had a broken one initially, so removed the bracket to drive out the stud .... after pulling the $@#*& front cover.

Burning Brakes
While you're in there........
#1: Agreed on the bumper cover removal to replace the bracket, see here:

#2: When reassembling Anti-Seize is your friend
#3: While you're at it check out this thread on cleaning/restoring the fog light lenses.
https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...og+light+clean
It actually helps a lot, far from perfect but a big improvement. Let the resin harden as much it will (I let mine sit for a couple of days in and out of the sun) then scrape the excess with a razor blade, follow with a coat of polish/wax.
#4: Then if you are happy with those results try this:

Andreas has another thread with a twist (black paint on the outer cover) but I can't find it right now.
Sorry to take you off topic but I noticed your fog's are like mine were when I put on clear corners, sandblasted and cloudy and look worse with the new corners, the above post's help without breaking the bank.
Good luck with the bracket and studs.

Are there any threads exposed such that you could get a nut on the remaining stud? Maybe then find a threaded coupling or make one out of a few brazed together nuts? A kluge I know but just thinking. Otherwise, off comes the bumper to do it right and I too prefer to do away with the bumperettes. Ken

all of these are good solutions. I am going to try and lubricate it some more and try and back it out. If that does not work I will try to drill it out.
Thanks

Bear in mind that the stud is not threaded into the backing plate. The stud is 'ribbed' for ~4mm under the head, and these ribs cut into the plate when the studs are pressed in from behind ...... ie., they cannot 'turn-out'. Either drive them out or drill

But it is the RIGHT solution. AND you can DIY: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-1995...tte-holes.html

gm1160, as one of the previous owners of your car, I can assure you I did not break off those studs. However, remember I offered to give you some parts that I still have laying in my garage. Those are the two bumperette bracket studs and the new bolts to go along with them.
Your email is bouncing back to me. So, I'm going to be at the Coffee & Croissants this Sunday, 3/28 in Chatham with my BMW. Check the posting in the East section. I can give you most of the service history for that car back to the original owner. All you have to do is let me hear those sweet Fister Ds.
