Default Tall 993 owners

I'm not at tall 993 owner but I have a buddy who wants a 993 but is 6'2" and is very cramped in the 993 cabin.

Any other tall owners with recommendations? Seems to me that that drivers seat could move back further - but does not. Also wondering if there is an adjustable steering column mod out there.

Just curious.

I'm just over 6'1" and know what you're talking about...in fact it was the one thing that concerned me when I bought my 993.

With the seat all the way back, I have to angle both my left and right legs to operate the clutch and brake pedal. PITA but the ride is worth it.

If I get around to it, I might make some brackets to offset the seat further back an inch or two.

I am 6'2' and am comfortable not even with the seat all the way back - if the steering wheel was telescopic I would probably have been all the way to the back and would be better. The seat is to the lowest setting.

I'm 6'4" and essentially put up with being cramped because I love driving the car so much.

However, I've done some things to get more room. First, you can move the seat back 'one set of holes' using the stock mounting.

Then recently, Johzev posted about some custom seat rail extensions he had made and I bought a set also. They allow you to move the seat back about another 1.5 inches from the point where you've moved the seat back already as described above.

I can provide the contact info for the seat rails if you are interested.

Good luck to your friend.

Thanks Chuck! I did not know you could move the entire seat back. I'll pass on the info.

Recaro SRD's.
They sit alot lower, thus more headroom.

I did this years ago and have no issue with my 6'5" height. Girth is another story...

6'2" long torso here, my helmet rubbed the headliner until I did below.............

Find someone in your area who can remove your seat bottom and replace the 2" of factory foam with 1/2" to 3/4" high density foam, it's not real expensive and works for me.

Same here, but it doesn't alter the fact that more seat travel, tilt and telescoping steering would have been nice.

I'm barely 6' with short legs (30"). I lost an inch of seat travel with the rear sub install and barely have enough room. I don't know how you tall guys do it.

+2 (and 6-3 also). I too moved both the driver's and passenger's seats back one notch but I sure wouldn't mind a tilt/telescoping wheel either.

I picked the car up in Phoenix and drove it 1600 mi. home with the seat in the forward bolt hols, thank god for cruise control on that trip. I think I tried every possible driving position on that trip.
