Default To do Swaybars or Not? with a PSS10 install?

Doing the PSS10 next week.

My 97 C4S is strictly a road car no track use ever.

Wondering if its a good idea to get and install front and rear H&R Sways while I am there doing the suspension?

And if so is there another brand I should consider?

Pros- Cons?

Thanks.

Don't do them. For one, the H&Rs are very thick, most think too thick for street use.

If you want adjustable bars, factory RS are the seemingly best option. If you want slightly stiffer, Euro M030 or turbo bars should do the trick. You can search for more details.

Probably you will be happy with just the coilovers, though.

I put TRG sways with PSS-10s on my street-only C4S; very happy with that set-up.

I have had the PSS10s and H&R sways on for a year. I don't have any issues on the street and don't have enough experience doing A/Xs to know if the set-up could perform any better or not with different sways. I did buy a 20mm rear bar and am looking for a 22mm front bar (M030) so I can see what the difference is. Some say the PSS10s are still relatively soft on the spring rates so a large sway bar can still work. I can't say it doesn't. If I had to do it again I would just get the M030 sways because of the Rennlist consensus.

I've got H&R sways along with H&R Reds and koni sports and the sways were a definite benefit even for street use. They're set on the middle setting and I don't find them too stiff at all. I guess it depends how the roads are in your area.

I did HDs + M030. The springs and shocks are a nice improvement to the car. (I do not agree with the recent criticism that M030 is too stiff for the street, but do agree that it's a personal decision.)

But you really should change the sways. The change from US standard to M030 is, simply, day and night. Suddenly, it's possible to steer the car with power, the way Dr. Porsche intended it - hugely rewarding. Controlled rotation is the name of the game and gone is the US-spec plowing from the standard bars.

BTW, before agreeing to change the sways, I polled the group on whether the tail would become too active for street driving (my car is not used on the track). My fear was the rainy day, decreasing-radius highway offramp and the possibilty that I might spin the car. The feedback and I got - and this has surely been my experience - is that in ordinary driving (ie: not trying to push the car), the handling is quite secure, with no threat of jumping/rotating tails. But "on the go," ........... heaven.

In my opinion, the change of sways is the best part of the suspension upgrade, even recognizing how great it was to a) toss the OEM shocks and add the HDs and b) lower the car using the M030 springs.

Regards to all.

I run the ROW TT sway bars with H&R red springs & M030 shocks/struts. That set up is really nice for every day street use.
I drove a friends ("tangi" r-lister) 95 993 with H&R coiler over/Bilstein combo with H&R sways. It was like a slot car. Very planted. Way better feel than my current set up.

Just keep in mind that with bigger sways comes worse ride quality. They go hand in hand, and proportionately. So don't go overboard. Running slightly stiffer in the rear (if you even bother at all) and leaving the front is the best solution for a street car.

I ran TRG and they were even too stiff for the track. I'm not the only one who's said that either.

I did the MO30s sway bars with my PSS10s installation abot 1.5 years ago and am very happy with the results.

The MO30s sway bars do improve the 993’s inherent under steer problem. You might want to consider installing the PSS10s 1st w/o changing the bars. You can always change the bars later. The rear bar installation is simple (2/10). The front is a little more difficult, but also very easy (2.5/10). I don’t think changing from the oem bars to the MO30 bars afterwards will affect the alignment.

GL!

I"m under the impression that the C4S has larger sways to start with... True/False? (yes, too lazy to search right now...

I like to do sway bars at the same time.

My last car had OEM RS adjustable, liked them a lot.
Next car will have the same.

I hadn't heard that one. I don't believe it after running the fat H&Rs.

I believe the comment related more to the M030 springs than to the sways. The sways, of course, only affect ride quality over one-wheel/one-side bumps.

Convertible (street car) - stock sway bars
C4S (track use) - adjustable RS

I am happy with both for its purpose.
