Default Simple GPS mount

After discovering the Inventiva "cup holder" (Never in a million years would I have thought I needed a cup holder for this car)....and combining with a ram mount from GPScity, a simple and clean solution for my older Garmin 350.

That works too. I have a windshield suction cup mount with my GPS that puts it in a good spot for the times that I need it. If I needed it more than just very occasionally your mount would make sense for sure.

I have the same Nuvi and have it velcroed to the ash tray/pocket. Looks and works great there.

Wow, you really have to take your eyes off the road for that. Mine is mounted on my old Batt Phone console, pretty much right below the radio, and I am not comfortable entering info while driving.

Best place to suction-mount a GPS device is on the clock.

Tried that and didn't like it. Too distracting (especially at night) and close to my hand.

Denny, i think that mounting location violates like every possible rule for mounting a gps! You should get better accuracy mounting it where it has a clear view (line-of-sight). Second, the gps antenna should be positioned horizontally, not pointing up. Third, you really don't want to look down like that... it's a safety thing.

You get an "A" for inventiveness, though!

Allow me to explain. I am planning to run the Nevada Open Road Challenge in May. The GPS will be a tool for my navigator...turned, twisted to his/her line of sight. I assure you, my eyes will be glued to the highway and nothing else other than guages for 90 miles. I don't intend to ever look at it.

By jove you're right. Can't believe I didn't see this before. Must have sat there twenty minutes trying to figure out a placement I liked what with position of the unit and the power cord. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

This is what I use; it's the cat's ***:

Just put it on the dash; it doesn't move around at all. The windshield site is reserved for the radar detector, and I like my great big Porsche clock.

Less is more.
