Just for future reference i weighed the rear shelves on an accurate postal scale today
stock w/ speakers 10.5#

I know that Trophy said he left his stock side pieces w/ carpeted RS piece in the middle any one else do that?

I did a test that way

not sure whether thats the way to go or not.
Come on Bill, you know you want to get rid of them so save yourself trouble and just put them on the shelf in the garage...
They don't look bad there at all but if you're going to carpet the rear, you should carpet the rear... Well, at least that's how I though about it...

stock sides are just 1 way to do it
The main advantage of leaving the sides in place is that no further issues wrt to the seatbelt retracot arise.

if the sides are capeted then you have a no ther decision to make about the retractors

leave them bare

slit the carpet

or make a cover

Hi Harlan, funny you should say that. I've been thinking the exact same thing for some time now. Only problem the say I see it is that it would look aftermarket. I like sticking with OEM looks. Hmm. Where is CF Marcus when you need him?

I’ve done this a few weeks ago.
Filled the holes with foam an recovered in alcantara.
