The 993 Targa would be perfect if it had the rear 'hatchback' feature introduced in the 996/997 Targas....that is about the only thing it is 'lacking'.
So buy the 997

That is one gorgeous machine, you lucky so-and-so.
I have been looking for a 993 Targa for long enough - but a blue one is my heart's desire....... you wouldn't consider selling it so soon after you got it would you?
You have a PM"

There are a few out there, and I have found some interesting ones, but this has most desirable options.
Last year I was really to a black on black one, but I had to get to work and we never came close to finalizing the deal. Some were ok, but were missing some options.
This one has the color Meteor Grey, you don't see too often. Sport exhaust, Chrono package, PSM, Nav, heated seats to name a few.
Smiles are based on toys to be had,and this one puts a big one on my face.
make mean offer I can't refuse !

Which targa are you talking about - do you have one for sale?
Is it a blue 993 with original 17" porsche wheels like wolfgang1's?

I thought this thread was concerning wolfgang1's blue 993 targa - which i covet.

Therefore ericthepilot, i'm not following your comments that you are color blind, only saw one 997 Targa4S so far, in Seattle but nearly 100K. '09 So expensive that color blue ....Or have one build !

And you lost me with - "For those who are on the same page as me, we wonder what others are missing. And yet we long for each other as a secret brotherhood with similar "views", attained by a certain financial freedom weather it is in an old 1978 Targa or a 997.2 newest one.
We FEEL the same, by choice, in our blood.
Porsche gave us that and we precariously look for our fellow drivers, scanning tail sections to find that fellow life "Genieser" like Germans say. The ones that truly enjoy life."

But the longing for each other as a secret brotherhood sounds intriguing...................................!

Can i take it you don't have a blue 993 targa for sale?

The story is that sometimes you can not always get what you want and hence compromise and find something close. The 1963 Ferrari P3 was a great car and won Le mans, but just because you saw / drove it once doesn't mean you can afford it. So you buy a F360 or F430. You get it ?
My 997 is the closest I can get to that 1980's dream car, for my hard earned dollars.
Tada.

Thanks for all the kind comments. While I was not planning on selling this car, reading Steve C4S's posts has me thinking about needs vs wants, and clearly I don't need two 993s

My bigger problem right now is garage space. I've got the SY 993 C4 which I dearly love and plan to keep forever. I have the newly acquired Blue Turquoise Metallic 993 Targa that is the subject of this thread... and i have this old BMW that I've affectionately named the "little beast".. a heavily modified "first 3 series" that I could easily sell... but could never replicate with the money I'd get... three toy cars, 1 daily... and two garage spots. What is a man to do?

Pics of the little beast attached!

I first saw a 993 targa in Adventura Green in a garage on Sanibel Island, in SW Florida some time around 1997. My nephew was doing some artwork in the house and the car was sleeping peacefully in the garage. It was a Tiptronic car, but I don't recall the interior color. Combined with an earlier 993 experience I concluded a 993 targa would be my next Porsche.

Fast-forward a couple of years. Adv Green 993s were scarce, but available. Adv Green 993 targas were rare indeed, and I never did find one with a black interior. Ultimately I settled for Polar Silver. It came out of hibernation again this weekend.

Great looking car, enjoy it!
