Yes and no. Viola metallic is almost black when it's cloudy outside. A very deep, rich purple. This color is called "Violet metallic" by the dealer. I'm not sure it's the right name but it's certainly a one off. I've never seen the color before. Zenith blue has a lot more blue in it than this color. Doesn't even look close IMHO.

Interestingly, Mirage Metallic was a standard offering on the 1999 996. Is this a late build '98?

 

Where do you guys find these ads! Great looking cars, both of them. Love looking at the pics. If I was a member of The Dead music group or maybe a Janis Joplin sound-a-ilke band, I would want that purple car for sure.

 

Looks to be a built-in-98 98. 996 production was in full swing by this time.

How are those exhaust tips so flush with the rear bumpers on those cars?

 

Like the purple but not so much the first one. Pretty sure it's not Zenith Blue since I see that color on a fairly regular basis.

 

I think the purple one is just violet and not violet metallic (same colour as Barney the TT). The first one is a little boring for me, but I love the violet.

 

I think the purple one is Amaranth (violet) Metallic.
