Anyone ever replace the Idle Control Valve and have an improved idle? After many adjustments my car idles somewhat smooth but tends to float between 850 and 975 rpm. I have driven a 993 turbo of a co-worker that has a very nice idle. Wondering if it is worth changing out. Also, I noticed the Bosch ICV are more expensive for Porsche than BMW's. Same design/look although the part # is different.

They do wear out now that these cars are getting older. Some dont respond well to just cleaning -- replacements are needed from time to time.

Try a good cleaning first before spending the $$ to replace. A can of brake cleaner (or simliar) is cheaper than a new part...

Miy 993 hunts up & down for a few seconds during very cold weather then sets into a steady idle. Just clean it-dont buy a new one.
Had the same problem on my 78 911 SC & 86 928S. Unfortunetly those cars had hunting idle problems even during warm weather & were 20 plus years old so i replaced the stupid valve. There are deals on ebay for these parts.
Good Luck
