Default OT: Good place to eat SF downtown?

I have a quick trip to SF and need a good rec for a place within walking distance of the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero. Something good local would be ideal. Thx.

Ozuma Sushi is close. I've had a few good meals there. One Market is also very close.

Something personal or for a business meal? Casual or more upscale?

On business, by myself, looking for good local, not particularly high-end.

Ferry Building has some good options:

Try Taylor's Refresher, a nice burger joint, that was originally started in Napa and who's new outpost is right on the Embarcadero. I like the sandwiches at Boccalone if you're into pork.

I just had lunch yesterday at a place on California and Battery called Barbacco. Quality italian and they have nice lunch options. It's not that far from where I believe you're staying. Try the brussel sprouts. No...seriously. :-)

All three are totally comfortable if you're alone as well.

Good suggestions above. For a historic SF meal, go to Tadich Grill on California St., just up from the Hyatt. You can walk by all of the above suggestions from the Ferry Building up Market and California St. in about 20 minutes and decide what you like.

For Thai, you can go to Osha Thai in Embarcadero Four.

For cheap noodles, you can go to Pho Hoa in Embarcadero Three.

But the Ferry Building is a good call. You can also go to the Slanted Door at the Ferry Building. They have a to-go counter called Out the Door.

Good call on Tadich Grill. For locational point of reference, Barbacco is actually just a few doors down from Tadich.

Another +1 for Tadich. One of the oldest restaurants in downtown SF. But beware, used to be cash ONLY. May still be the case.

Have fun.

pretty much everything from Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiradelli Square through Little Italy and China Town is walking distance in San Francisco!

OK, we tend to walk a lot, but public transportation is excellent in "The City"

Tons of EXCELLENT restaurants in SF. One of my favorite cities to visit.

They take plastic now. And I didn't recognize any of the bartenders, although they all still appear to be Croatian.

For old San Francisco flavor you can not beat Tadich's. It is an institution!!!! Or for some of the best old style fish grotto's Scomas is hard to beat also. Out on its on little pier, great bar, great service and of course some of the best seafood around. Its the kind of place that you would find the Rat Pack going to.
