Default Shift **** removal question`

How does this shift **** attach. Reason I ask is I thought they were usually just a push fit but this **** seems to have set screw of some type under the leather boot. Where the pen is pointing there is definitely some type of screw. Do I have to lift up the whole center console and go underneath?

Push the boot down around the edge of the console, usually at the rear of the car, down hard. It will snap off and then you can pull it up and over the **** to reveal the set screw.

Push it down? Really? It won't break any tabs or screw anything up?

Default gear shifter

The shifter leather boot is secured in the center console by 2 clips on the drivers side and 2 clips on the passenger side. To remove the shifter without breaking anything press DOWN on the drivers side of the edge of the leather boot frame, the edge will be pushed down a bit into the console. This allows the passenger side of the boot to be pulled up and then the whole boot can be wiggled round and pulled vertically revealing the allan screw securing the shifter **** to the gear shift lever.
Slacken the allen screw and pull the gear **** off the gear shift lever.
Reassembly is the reverse. Secure the **** with the allan screw to the lever, wiggle all the boot frame into the console, press to down on the passenger of the frame 'til it's located on the 2 side clips and push down into place. The fame should be sitting squarely in the center console by now, so grab the leather and gently pull UP on the driver's side. Takes a minute or two.

Yeah, I kinda knew that. Can't blame a guy for covering all his bases ..

I see you've "freshened" your Avatar since I came back from my meeting LOVE that color, but I love Guards Red too. You should keep both cars. Some days are blue days and some days are just RED CAR days ..

.

Don't I wish! Sure honey, you can keep them both, now sign the divorce papers right here on the dotted line. I tend to be more of a red car guy but had lately been really taken with the Rivera blue smurfs going around. When I saw this one I was not seriously considering it but I couldn't help myself. After I pulled the blue one in the garage I started having withdrawal pains with the idea of letting the red one go.
