Finally putting the 3.8L back together for the yellow car. (The interim 3.6L had problems, what a waste of labor.) Now that the blob is pretty much back as a complete blob, wow do I miss the easy wrestling days of a mag case 2.4/2.7L carb'd engine! Not to mention when it's mated to the G50......can practically pick up an open diff mag case 915 with one hand.

Picture of a stock-to-the-eye engine? You should know better than me spending a dime of prettiness on pretty much anything.
This engine isn't simplified, either. As we live in CA, Kim made sure Steve put the SAI, etc. back on.

Not much. It's the same engine, just been sitting for a year +. The defective AASCO valve spring that took out an intake valve. Engine was well documented here when Kim had it built. Nothing special, as it is an honest 315HP in CA legal trim.
If this other stock 3.6 didn't end up having a rod knock I wouldn't even bother reinstalling this engine. ~1 sec/lap really isn't worth the headache of having to obsess over when the next time something goes wrong with this one, versus a stock engine I can beat the hell out of.
