This step is absolutely required IMHO. I double ringed mine and the right side still came loose. I then used the punch and hammer instead of the wrench and its been good since.

It certainly cannot hurt... but not required.

Using the lock rings Bilstein supplies with their product (HDs or PSS10s):
1. Orient the drop link perch correctly (many threads on this here)
2. Set lock ring (final step in tightening) with a punch and hammer

If you do DIY the install it will be up to the shop that does the align/CB to do this for you.
Hopefully they know what they are doing

+1 I agree with Mark and Matt, Mine were on my car for a couple of years and only track work and they never moved, had a single ring that was set with a punch and hammer. I was running my TRG sways (bigger than RS) at full stiff with out an issue.

Thanks for weighing in Mark. I am the reason Chris is is looking for these. I put these on my car when did my install a while back when I did not know very much about these cars. Not that I know a lot now, but I do know more. I did not want him to have any advantages over me with all that unnecessary unsprung weight!

I plan to help Chris put these in his pimp ride

I think we will take your advice and go naked w/o the extra collars.

What do I care, it's not my ride.

Mark,

I keep asking myself the same question, "What is Bob good for?" Hopefully one day I will find my answer.

I called Bilstein and ordered them for $13.96 each. The part # is E4-FT4-Z003A05
