Which '95 Coupe would you buy?
Looking at two '95 Coupes. Both my color preference.
Car # 1 - 82K miles. Price - $ 27K. Nice options, including MO30, LSD, ABD and early sport seats. Most service records, but not all. Mechanically no major issues, except clutch. Cosmetically very nice, but does have a slight scratch along one side - faint, but can feel it with a fingernail, and doubt it will polish out. Definitely will need a new clutch very soon. Little too far from home to drive, so need to factor in $ 1K to ship home.
Car # 2 - 70K miles. Price - $ 33K. No options, other than full power driver's seat. All service records. No mechanical issues. Excellent cosmetic condition. Close enough to drive home.
Appreciate your thoughts.

I certainly like these options: MO30, LSD, ABD but while I continue my search I am finding condition and care are more important to me than any one desired feature, color, etc. I guess it depends on your own wants and desires. Are you looking for the best car with XXX features or the best car? Not always the same thing.

I myself would pick car #1. Its priced lower and has more desirable options. If the price is negotiable at all its even better, but if not it still leaves you having money leftover to pay for shipping it home and getting some of the service addressed. The cost to add some of those options to car #2 will certainly add significant $$ to it's price of entry.

Dfinitely Car #1 assuming a good PPI outcome. I have M030/LSD/ABD on mine too and for that would say even if the prices of the cars were evenly matched that Car #1 is a better choice. ++ Sport seats...
One thing, where did the car's live their respective lives?
If you have photos of the scratch you can post them up on a detailing forum and see what the probability of being able to take it down is, and possibly find someone to do the job if you don't have the expertise.
Oh and no distance is too far to drive a 993 home from purchase IMHO, unless there's an ocean involved.

Not saying not car #1. But if I may offer a few points to consider:
- M030 by this mileage ain't nearly as sporting or effective as Bilsteins would be. The stock shocks (Monroe) do not have a reputation for longevity. And you are still at stock US ride height. Dont be surprised if the entire suspension gets modded so the perk here is questionable, at best.
- LSD is a good option, but likewise folks have reported the clutchpack nearly dead/useless at high-ish miles. Not "bad" by any stretch nor any worse than an open diff, but certainly no very "limited slip" if it's not fully working. At least it's there, though, and you can have it repacked in the future.
- ABD ...meh! You drive in poor traction often? Useless for many/most, IMHO.
- Sport seats ...personal item. I prefer regular seats!
- Clutch: figure in about $4-5K for clutch + "while you're in there" stuff.
- Scratch and condition is "very good" vs the other car ("excellent") which you seem to indicate is better cosmetically. Don't discount cosmetic condition: this is often expensive both in dollars and regret factor. Which exterior/interior do you like better?
- Car 2 has "all" records vs "most records," and is lower in mileage by 12K ...not an insignificant number.
- That lower price is gone immediately (and then some) with clutch+transportion. Consider the PPI and your opinion of cosmetic condition and appeal. Color combo and paint/interior condition play an enormous role as you see these everyday, unlike a new clutch. A good looker is not cheap and at times less costly to address than mechanical items.

Good points Edward!
M030; for some reason I was assuming Bilstein HDs. My mistake. RoW Springds/Sways (as opposed to U.S.) are desirable as well.
LSD; I've read that by now mine must be gone (112K miles) but the car sure does hook up well under power in corners..., and I'd rather have the option than not.
I was figuring that Car #2 at 70K would need a clutch as well, likely sooner than later. (Mine was done at 70K by the PO.) YMMV though, some have gone much longer on the original clutch than that.

Car # 1.
Both cars have virtually the same mileage. A new clutch will cost about $3,000 installed. The LSD is shot, but at least you have it. A refresh will cost about $750 to have new Guards disks put in. If early sport seats mean the 964 sport seats, then you have much nicer seats than the hard-backed 993 sport seats.
You might be able to get the price down a bit further.

I have the same options as #1.
These early sport seats are awesome (I am not fat:-).
70k is the same as 82k for me. Mine had over 90k when I bought it!
Both cars will need new shocks/springs soon. At least #1 already has the much better M030 sway bars.
The clutch is not necessarily that expensive.
LSD/ABD are extremely desirable options.
What color are these cars? Black interior is more desirable.
I would go for #1

I would get a PPI on #1 due to the rare sport seats-I had these in my last 964 and they are fantastic. LSD is also nice. If it checks out you can possibly negotiate down based on it needing a clutch. However if that scratch is really going to bug you, go with #2.

#1 appeals to me
M220 option lsd/abd includes 4 channel abs, w/o this option you only have 3 channel. The lsd is likely worn out but it can be rebuilt to better than new spec for a reasonable price.
new clutch is you opportunity to have a lwf and clutch of your choice instead of the clunky dmf
unless the M030 is RoW it isn't all that better than stock, and it's likely on it's last legs unless recently installed
