Porsche Museum....little respect for the 993, WTF?
I thought there would be a nice example of a 993 there talking about the last of a generation of oil-cooled cars. however, the only 993 was a police car example.....they did have a 1997 GT1 but no C2S, no Turbo S, no example of the 'modern' targa 993(or 996 or 997 for that matter)....just a lousy 993 police car.
that said, the museum was otherwise awesome and full of spectacular car. especially great if you are interested in the racing history of Porsche and especially if you are into the 356 of which they seemed to have nearly every iteration(and I now want one)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the 993 Police Car was also the millionth porsche built so it has some clout there as well.
But I would like to see at least one 993TT, RS, RSCS & Cup Car featured too.

I heard that...
964 cars, although coming out in 1989, had 1975 rear suspension off the old 930 with a coil over set up...15 year old technology (giving the benefit of the doubt, swing arm technology goes way back...on the 911's 1963 1/2 for the early 911 prototypes...)
I couldn't he;p myself, had to jump in on SpeedBump's comment, "But 993 aren't real 911 those ended with the 964." I hope someone thinks this is funny besides me. Personally I like the 964 car especially the 964 Cup Cars
But that 964 front suspension, the apex of technology (Same suspension as the 993!).

My impression was that they really don't keep much in the way of generic production cars around for the sake of displaying them. Not saying they needed to have a '77 Targa with the comfort group (think 14" wheels), but they sure could have had a smattering of perfect examples of what most of us have.
To Martin's comment above about the "improved" trailing arm (NOT swing axle) utilized in the 964, I'll leave those more expert in chassis design to talk specifically about what was improved. Suffice to say, it is NOT merely a 930 trailing arm with a coil spring...........

I have yet to stop by and considering how many times I've driven past Stuttgart, that is pretty bad on my part.
Where exactly is the museum? Off to Google now since I'll be there for 6 weeks this summer.
It looks like these are the coordinates:
N48 50.095 E9 09.122

The 993 police car is indeed the millionth Porsche car produced.
When I was there last year in april, they did have the turbos on the rotating platforms by the restaurant but I believe they change the exhibition every once in a while.
I can see why they do not have more 993s in the exhibition. There are plenty of those in dealer showrooms around the world. You can't say that about 917s, for instance.

I never thought of going here, until I just saw these pics. Now I really want to go. It'll be hard to talk my wife into going to Germany as she swore she'd never go (her whole family was wiped out at the beginning of WW2 except her dad and his brother), but women sometimes change their minds...
They look like little toys...
Matchbox cars...
Speak of the devil
Here are cars in the exhibit dubbed "The Evolution of the 911."

I already took note of two adjacent hotels that are walking distance to the museum.

Went last summer... Absolutely amazing! I left with a much greater appreciation of the history of the marque! I consider myself very fortunate to own and care for my 993... If you ever have the opportunity to to visit the museum, please do not pass it by!
