Smile You 1995 993 Looky Loos...

I have found your car. It is a 1995 993, unmolested and has:
Grand Prix White
Full leather interior
Factory sport seats with the high bolsters, clean interior
6 Speed
PSS9s
LSD
Flawless paint
Clean Car Fax
XXXXXX Miles (Dont know the miles)

It is at Smith Volvo, San Luis Obispo, CA, they have a web site with their used car inventory. I think they want $36, 500 for it...worth it if you want a clean 993. Tell them that Marty sent you, that way you'll pay more. Ask for the Rennlister discount, pay even more!

52,639 miles, $40,000.

Way too high for this market.

Man that is nice. If it were in the low $30's, that would be a good deal.

I'm sure if you went in with the February issue of Excellence, you might get them to down into the low $30's, they had to start somewhere!

Don't see factory sport seats, higher price. Are we looking at the same car?

If it sits long enough, it will be in the low 30's! With these places you could always go in and test drive it and if you like it, offer them what it's truly worth (low 30's). You never know, especially at the end of the month.

Nice car, but I prefer to pay the Excellence values for the car.

I agree, nice car but way overpriced. Those are standard seats with ruffled leather (not a fan of this option). Car fax shows this as a PA/GA/NJ car until 2008 so it is not even a California car.

$40k is obscene for a 95 with that mileage

Default Pricing???

Pricing is ALWAYS what a willing buyer and a willing seller will agree to...as H.H. Chin stated, "they have to start somewhere". The dealer knows know the "Grind" is coming. Need some wiggle room.

Mileage, this is a 15 year old car...52,XXX / 15 is 3,400 miles a year. And not a California car, who gives a crap if the car is not driven in the winter on salted roads?

I have seen the car in person. It looks as good as the pics, and probably the best part, the dealer stands behind it. You'll seldom if ever hear a complaint about Smith Volvo's Porsche resales. Cars coming from this dealership are spot on.

Their are butt cheeks for every seat; this car will find a home. Just thought I'd let any 993 lurkers know that this car is available.

Excellence prices! Please, they are crap. I'd put my car in a crusher, or part it out before I'd sell it for those prices. That damn column is a disservice to all of us I believe.

I will unsubscribe from this post...this "messenger" needs no more arrows today.

"Supple Leather." I don't like it either, and oftentimes, it's partial leather rather than full. The pleats mash down over time and look bad. That particular option could be a deal killer for me personally, unless everything else was perfect.

That said, a lot of you make black interior as a "must have." White is also one of those non Guards-silver-black colors like SY and the blues that seem to bring a little more money. We all agree that condition is king, and Martin has already done the Renfax. I'd pay $32 max.

sorry, $40k is more than wiggle room. $40k says, "i'm looking for a sucker". You have a non-standard color, in probably the least desirable year (for the average person), with some strange options. $32k max.

52k is not low miles for a 993. A camry, absolutely. 52k is mid miles, not that there is anything wrong with that.

And how would you know if it was driven in the salt/snow?

yes, they will most likely find a buyer. Either a sucker will fall in love and pay them $40k, or someone with some sense will get them down to a realistic price, like $32k.

My '92 C4 came out of New York in '98, not exactly low miles but one owner and no significant winter use. I could not believe the amount of miscellaneous corrosion on the fasteners and general deterioration of the underside. We've always been spoiled out here (looking at a completely corrosion free '73 1/2 in the back yard.........).
