The Porsche 911s are probably the most successful sport cars ever, designed in the early 60s they were continuously updated with the best knowledge and technology. Their forty years racing history is legendary as they won a some of the most prestigious races : the Monte-Carlo rally, Daytona 24 hours, Le Mans 24 hours, Targa Florio and Paris-Dakar. A 911 is always closely diverted from a race car, then directly benefits from the valuable experience acquired at tracks. Sometimes, in order to have the 911 racers designed to the limits allowed by regulation, the factory had to build a limited number of road cars called “homologation serial”, for that reason the most exciting road 911s were built like the Carrera RS 2.7, the 959, the 911 GT1 and for sure the 993 GT2. In 1994 endurance races had turned from prototypes to GT cars, in the new BPR championship which later became the FIA-GT, three categories appeared : GT1, GT2 and GT3. The new 993 introduced in 1994, was the perfect basis for a high performance GT2 race car but the 993 Turbo was now a smooth and heavy four wheels drive car. Only a limited edition of 25 cars had to be built to obtain the GT-homologation then the Porsche designers had a “white card” to make the 993 GT2 the more exciting 911 ever built. The chassis was based on the Cup car but with all new cinematic on front axle and stiffer rear frame, the suspension and steering had ball joints for precision and the bi-turbo engine upgraded to 430 HP. Accordingly the weight was reduced to 1350 kg, about 200 kg less than the 993 Turbo. This fabulous machine was capable of 295 km/h and required 4 sec from 0 to 100 kph, only 50 cars were built. However some clients ordered a much more radical version which was basically a registered race car called 993 GT2 “Club Sport”. This ultimate 911 was built on a real racing GT2 shell with a fully FIA homologated roll cage, had no air conditioning, powered windows, leather, ABS, carpets or any kind of upholstery. The body was lightened by using aluminium doors, Carbon-Kevlar wheel arches and bumpers, chassis was extremely close from the race car only the set up was modified for the road. The CS is 100 kg lighter than a “comfort” version making the performances one step higher again. Porsche built 110 GT2 race cars, 50 “comfort” road version, and only 7 Club Sport. This is one of the greatest 911s ever built and the ultimate evolution of the “classic” 911s with air cooling … fully street legal.

This 993 is one of the 7 GT2 Club Sport built, these outstanding cars were especially built for a handful of Porsche’s best customers. It has chassis number”WPOZZZ99ZTS392145” and was delivered on the 12th December 1995 to a collector in Germany via the Porsche dealer of Dusseldorf. He kept it until 2001 when he sold it to another German collector. The late brought the car to Reinhold Schmirler from RS Tuning in 2001 for engine upgraded to 600 HP, basically a GT2 EVO race type Air Cooler and Turbo were fitted, the invoice of 20 000 € is available in the car’s file. In 2005 with only 21 000 km on the clock the 911 changed hands and went to one of the greatest collection of high performance cars from the 80s/90s in Europe. Having been sparely used by its three owners the odometer only shows 22 500 km and can only be described in “as new” condition, it has never been hardly used at tracks, extremely carefully kept and still wears its original paintwork. The driving is an unforgettable experience, indeed though the power is there, chassis and brakes perfectly match, making this lightweight car quick and safe. It’s very hard to describe the sensations given by this fabulous machine but there are directly to be compared with the ones you may have in a race car. It was the subject to large articles in different Porsche magazines and we also had the pleasure to use the car in November 2006 for a report on French TV. A complete history file comes with the car with invoices and Porsche certificate. This is really a one time opportunity to own this highly collectible 911. Price 260 000 €. Is the GT2 based off a WB or NB??

Simply stuning indeed! Visually the nicest 993 IMHO (even more than the RS?? Dare I say..)

I thought all GT2 conversion is off a WB? The car could start off as a NB but it has to upgrade its fenders to a WB first. I could be wrong.

GT2 is on wide body. RSR is on Narrow body.

Overall I would give my left nut for that car (I would normally give my right one, but offered that one for the 959 in another post)
