OT: Russo-Steele auction wind damage
Bad/windy weather hit the RS auction hard. No telling how much damage was done to the cars yet.

I read a report from a guy that was there last night. He said they called for an evacuation before the tent collapsed. He saw one car get crushed by a pole that fell. Glad I gave the auctions a miss this year.

Really sad. Sometimes, Mother Nature is a byotch! Glad no one was seriously injured but, if I had a car under that tent, I'd be sick. Sure, insurance will cover it but some of those cars have body panels, parts and trim that are "unobtanium".

Just saw a YouTube video from 5 minutes after the damage. Could not see anything as it was too dark, but the commentator indicated about 10% of the cars were damaged.
There are various other videos on YouTube, including one showing the South Tent collapsing.

I just looked at the list and was relieved to see that our Friends '55 356 Carrera Speedster was still listed for sale so I guess it was not damaged in the fiasco.
I heard that the Tucker did sustain some superficial damage, but is still going up on the block tonight since the bidders wanted it to go up anyway and this is an all reserve auction so the seller has nothing to lose really. The restorer promises that any damage will be 100% fixed and fixed correctly for the buyer.
If it weren't so darn icy and cold up here today, I think we might have gone down to see some of the auction later this afternoon and tonight, but we have to be able to get back up the mountain tonight.....
