Do you have more info and pics of where the switch is located? Also since the entire car is powered down, does the ECU need to relearn it's setting once the battery is connected?

Although the immobilizer starts functioning right away, I can easily disable it by locking then unlocking the door with the car key.

Merits of doing the above are:

*You can park the car for 6 to 8 weeks and the battery will be still juicy.
*Except yourself with the key, nobody else can start the car because once the battery is switched back on the immobilizer will start functioning. (Thief would need a tow truck to steal your car.)

Weird. In seven years of 993 ownership, I've never had an immobilizer issue.

I'm sure I just jinxed myself!

9 years for me

But then again, I have the superior '95 sans immobilamer and SAI. Lots can be said about keeping things simple

...sorry, guess that wasn't very productive. Carry on, gents.

Sorry I am just a tourist here and cannot post pics. My mechanics installed the switch right on the cable that leads to the negative pole of the battery. He cut the cable then hand soldered the switch onto the loop. (Every time I need to open the front hood to switch it on or off.)

Since the whole car is powered off, the ECU may need to relearn its setting, I guess.

Not unless the software was recently re-programmed.

Regardless, its a simple matter to do,......after reconnecting the battery, simply turn on the key for 2 minutes without starting and then proceed to fire it up and let idle for 2 minutes.

This also assures the MAF relearns its baseline settings.
