I don't want tomatoes thrown at me, but I think the hollow spoke twists look 10X better on your car than the regular 17" ones. Once I saw a car with the twists I was in heaven. I had to have them on my 993 and would never have bought a car with anything else except them on it. They're easy to maintain, have that OEM look, and are incredible looking... on YOUR car!

Ok, I lied, I like the RS Speedline wheels too and would have been happy with them. This is a pic from "Air Eater" posted back in 2008:

and the Twists:

I just put on PSS10s and RUF 19s. May be putting my OEM 18" hollow spoke twists up for sale. Getting used to the new wheels so will decide in a few more weeks.

I'm going to start looking for a full set of the hollow spoke 18s. I don't think I need tires on them just yet. I think having the original wheels on hand is better for resale (not that I'm even thinking about selling, but you know what I mean).

I'm resigned to paying 1200 or more for a set -- but I'd rather spend the money once on a clean OEM set than settle for substitutes.

Thank you so much for the input -- and if you have a good set of 8x18 and 10x18 hollow spoke turbo twists lying around, I'll take 'em! (tanger, PM me if you decide to sell yours!)

Betsy,
I must admit that the hollow spokes look best!

They're awesome.

Okay, another question: Are the "18" Technology Design Wheels" from the VIL code the same as hollow spoke wheels? I ask because Detroit Wheel and Tire lists them as different items.

See here: "18" Techno wheel" versus "Hollow spoke"

It's hard to tell from the picture but they look the same. It also seems to say that they are reconditioned which indicates that they might be the real thing. Might be worth following up with them.

When you are looking at hollow spokes, ,get the numbers that Bill mentions. you can tell the difference between a hollow spoke and a solid spoke by looking or feeling the back side of the spoke. Hollow spokes are smooth, Solid spokes have more of a I beam or grooved shape on the back.

I would keep the 17's for the winter tires and put the summer tires on the 18's.
