Question PA - window tinting question

To all PA resides,

I recently moved to PA from another state. Now I'm in the process getting my cars transfered. I checked the DMV and found a document regarding widow tinting in PA - see attachment. One of the previous owners of my C4S has tinted the side and rear widows. Also the car is a 1997.

Can you give me some input if this will become a PIA?

Thx Jack

Probably, but only when you get pulled over.

If you actually follow the letter of the law, 70% (same as NYS) light transmission is very light tint. Some say why bother tinting your windows at all.

Is PA inspection done by state facilities or private facilities?

If state, then may not be worth the hassel.

But personally, I won't have any of my cars any other way.

Here's 30%:

New to PA but it is my understanding that the inspections are done by privat facilities only?!

The tining was doen by a previous owner. It never was important to me and I keept it. I have no idea what it means to get it off?!

I'm not so much worried about getting pulled over as more not to get the inspection sticker!

In NJ it never was an issue for inspection ....

Dealing with a private facility is easier and you'll probably pass inspection provided you've used the facility before.

Removing tint involves removing the film. And a solvent to remove any glue residue left from the film.

I heard Jersey was a PITA with tinted windows and inspections.

I'm glad you never had any issues.

Hey more PA peeps! Inspection shouldn't be a problem but the pigs on the other hand may hassle you. If you get pulled over they may make you remove it then come back to prove it. It looks like you said just the rear sides and rear and not the door glass?

Thx for the input. So - inspection seems to be no issue. But may the cops will become one if I'll get pulled over ...
The door windows are tinted too. Here a picture which should give you an idea of the tinting.

I live very close to you and will PM you a PA inspection place that will "forget" to look at the tinting.
