I shipped my cans to FD Motor Sports today for the Stage III modification, cerachrome coating and new tips. Darin indicated 2 to 3 weeks turnaround. I’m very excited - this is going to be a great modification!
Yes - Moffat is living vicariously through my modifications it’s too funny. My wife always gets a little nervou$ when Tim is lurking in the garage discu$$ing upgrades.
Tim - good call on the Stage IIIs - Thxs!

How is the sound of III's to supercups.
I have Supercups and love them, but would consider III's.
On a scale of 1 to 10 -- loudness for street car, cups say are 8,
what are III's.
I would think III's are a little quieter, and a lot less drone between 2 and 4K. ???

Got them too..
Passed 92 dB sound check at Laguna Seca....(I did short shift into 4th past the monitor)...but when past, back into 3rd and on the gas. No sound flags! I think I could pass full on the gas in 4th, we'll see in 2010, August.
And as we read above..."How is the sound of III's to supercups? I have Supercups and love them, but would consider III's." I had Super Cups, sold them a while back. Their sound is unique, very manly indeed. I also found the resonance at 3,000 RPM on the Cups to be a bit bothersome. The IIIs are not as loud and there is no resonance that I have detected. I really love them....sold off my RSRs.

I ran Supercups for a year on my car. I like them, but the tone and droning became a bit much for me.
You are correct, Stage IIIs are not as loud as Supercups. They also don't have that "V8" sound. To me, they still sound like a Porsche, just a very mean one. And they have NO DRONE at all....zero...zip...nada....
I run them with stock cats and find them to be perfect. Nice and aggressive, but not "over the top".
If Supercups are an 8 out of ten, I would say Stage IIIs are a 6-7.
I hope that helps.

I just ordered Stage IIs and tips because I am not looking for loud. Noise level and tone is so subjective. Its like shopping for musical instruments. If I want loud, hot, brutal, unruly and oh yeah, crude, I'll finish my big block Valiant

Where would you rate Motorsound mufflers in the scale of I to III? I have sport cats so my car is slightly louder than original...I'm looking for more & better sound but don't want to go crazy.

Yep. Stock, Motorsound, I, II, and then III.
The Cups are indeed loud and obnoxious. They go to Eleven. In a good way, but you get the idea. Surprisingly, my Supercups have quieted down SIGNIFICANTLY since getting broken in. But they are still a tad much on very long drives and are not 100% neighbor approved.
Fister stage III's would be a no brainer to me, esp. without the resonance. I wouldn't hesitate.
Best,
Matt

Burning Brakes
Before my II's my car was described as:
"A pissed off bumble bee" coworker
"It sounds like a toilet flushing" wifes friend after she asked me to rev the engine.
After II's
"Holy sh*t that sounds cool" co-worker
"Is that legal?" wife.
