Lightbulb DIY Raising the Dead “pedal”

With the drivers seat just about fully extended, for some (physiological?) reason my left foot doesn’t seem to comfortably rest on the dead pedal – leg reach too far. I also prefer a softer feel under my hoof than hard plastic.
So I made very quick and dirty and certainly NOT a permanent solution:

1. Cleaned the existing plastic pedal surface,
2. Cut out a piece of 6mm ply matching the length and width of the dead pedal,
3. Sanded all 8 sides smooth and brushed clean of sanding dust,
4. Trimmed out a piece of black felt carped to match the ply dimensions,
5. Stapled the carpet to the ply top and bottom,
6. Applied 6 evenly spaced horizontal rows of double sided mounted tape to the non-carpeted side of the ply,
7. Press fixed the ply tape side down onto the existing plastic pedal, raising the dead pedal by a total of nearly 10mm.

(I brushed on a quick coat of midnight blue leather dye to the visible ply edge)

Result, perfect elevation, easily removed without a trace and soft to the hoof.
1 – 10 Scale of difficulty = doesn’t even register. Time, 25 minutes.

You can also see that the pedal width and angle could have been easily altered if preferred and same for the thickness for more elevation
