WTB: 993 door panel speaker Pods?
Wondering if any of you guys that have swapped-out, or lightened your door panels would happen to have the piece that holds the speakers and gets covered by the carpeted door pocket/speaker grill?
Guess this is for the hifi system?
Again, it's the piece that sits between the door panel & the pocket/grill that covers it.
Thanks,
Paul

He's talking about these from the 993 HiFi system. I have them in my car, but not really looking to get rid of them right now. Although, I do plan to do RS panels at some point.

Do not use this crap to position your nice Dynaudios. Just build a bracket from plywood that uses the monting holes and you will get a MUCH better result. Here are some pics of what I used for my MB Quart Components.

Interesting solution. I have the Hi-Fi option and would like to replace the speakers. Has anyone with the Hi-Fi option replaced the lower enclosures (pictured above) with the smaller non-HiFi standard enclosures? I would guess that is much easier than the DIY performed by e9stibi (which is excellent but a bit time consuming).

vhamzon - I am not sure if I understood correctly but the non hifi speakers do not come in an enclosure like the hifi speakers. The woofers are straight mounted to the panel. My procedure might look difficult but it is really not. You just need a saw and other basic tools to built the custom bracket and install it. It is a very solid installation too that is built to last.

e9stibi,
The thing is I debated getting RS door panels or maybe even the flat CF door panels. I thought if I get the CF door panels I could also retain my leather wrapped handles and then swap the door pocket from the Hi-Fi bigger pocket enclosures to the standard enclosures. That way more of the CF would show, I would get more legroom (left knee), less weight and a very straight forward install with a single cutout hole for the main speaker. So that's my plan. Excellent write-up btw. I'm just not very good with electronics.. I would just go for a direct replacement speaker which uses the same cables as the original speakers.
