Windshield wiper problem
My windshield wipers seem to work OK, but if I use the washer, the wipers won't shut off. The washer squirts a few times, then stops, but the wipers continue no matter what I do with the switch. I have to turn off the ignition to get them to stop. Then they work normally unless I use the washer. Is there a relay that controls that? Thanks
PS: My 993 book is packed up right now, so I can't look it up. Doing a search here now.

EDIT: I stand corrected. As Nick states below, the PET does identify an "interval relay" which is R42. The part number is 993 615 101 00 ( http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...93_KATALOG.pdf ).

Does your intermittent wipers work properly? I looked at the diagram for the Late 95 cars and see there is a relay for intermittent wipers. I could see this as being a possible source of trouble but just a guess. I would test my intermittent wiper function and see if it stays on or does not work correctly. If it doesn't work right I'd look at R42. maybe the wipe during wash goes through there. maybe not don't know. If not I don't see any other front wiper relay's

My ‘95 has a similar problem with the windshield wipers failing to turn off. In my case this happens when the intermittent position is selected.
The slow and fast wiper positions work as they should meaning that the wipers will stop once the lever is moved to the off position.
However if the intermittent position is selected the wipers will run constantly and they will not shut off no matter what position the lever is subsequently put in. The intermittent control doesn’t seem to work either.
It requires shutting off the ignition switch to finally stop the wipers.
I determined today that the problem is the intermittent wiper relay (G42, I believe) by swapping in the intermittent wiper relay from my 968.
Surprisingly the relay from my 968 was exactly the same part as the one in the 993, right down to the 993 part number. 993 615 101 01.
Strange problem, but I’m always glad when electrical gremlins are this easy to resolve.
